Canyon is 18 miles south of Amarillo. There are two elementary schools, one intermediate school, one junior high and one high school in the city of Canyon. In the southern city limits, in or close to Amarillo, are an additional six elementary schools, one intermediate school, one junior high, one high school and one alternative high school.

 

Three additional school districts border the city of Amarillo, including Bushland, Highland Park and River Road Independent School Districts. They each include one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school.
