Make arrangements to hire a moving company or rent a moving vehicle.
Transfer or get copies of medical records (and school records if you have children).
Get referrals from your current doctor for new doctors in the neighborhood you’ll be moving to.
Update your insurance policies (home, auto, etc.) and check to see if your belongings are covered during the move.
Make arrangements with cable, telephone, newspaper, lawn and home security companies.
Change your address with magazine and newspaper subscriptions and creditors.
Make arrangements at new location for utility service beginning on moving day and cancel utility service at old location for the day after your move date.
Purchase needed packing supplies (boxes, tape, markers, etc.)
Make special arrangements for small children and/or pets for moving day.
Start packing, boxing and labeling items as you go.
Set aside items you will need immediately and make a note to load this box last.
Get cash from bank for tips to movers, miscellaneous.
Buy bottles of water for you and any helpers.
Pack the last of your items (don’t forget your important documents) and leave out one small suitcase for pajamas and toiletries.
