Jonathan Smart, Chief Operating Officer for SAIL Databank and Head of Programmes for Swansea University’s Data Science Department, recently celebrated the successful completion of his MA in Professional Practice through distance learning at the ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD). Jonathan credits the course for enhancing his reflection skills and significantly contributing to his professional development.

Over the past few months staff at the ���Ҵ�ý’s Carmarthen Business School have been engaged in a shared prosperity rural innovation fund project in rural Carmarthenshire: ‘Identifying the Challenges for Enhancing Rural Resilience through the Circular Economy (CE)’ which aims to address the need for a move towards a Green economy by increasing business resilience and sustainability in rural areas.

Elenya Moore, a BA Outdoor Adventure Education student from the ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD), recently completed an exciting placement at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). This experience took her on different expeditions, ranging from the snow-covered landscapes of Nordic winters to a summer kayaking journey along the coast—an adventure that assessed her leadership skills, resilience, and passion for outdoor education.

Canolfan Peniarth, one of the leading publishers of Welsh and bilingual books and educational resources in Wales, which is part of the ���Ҵ�ý, has created innovative resources to teach Patagonian Spanish through the medium of Welsh to primary school children.

The ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD) has recently led a series of professional training workshops, requested by Pembrokeshire Education Authority, to promote play-based learning across Welsh schools. The workshops, titled “Playful Pedagogies”, were developed and facilitated by UWTSD lecturers Paul Darby and Natasha Jones from the Early Years Team, following a successful presentation delivered to Challenge Advisors and Local Education Representatives across Wales.

Staff from the ���Ҵ�ý’s Carmarthen Business School are collaborating on a project to strengthen business sustainability and resilience in rural Carmarthenshire by fostering circular economy practices.

The ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD) Outdoor Adventure Education team proudly participated in the 4th Gathering of Adventure Therapy Europe (GATE) held in Sigulda, Latvia over the summer. The event, a biannual conference, brought together leading practitioners, researchers, and enthusiasts from the fields of Adventure Therapy and Experiential Learning.

The European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA) hosted its annual conference in Brighton, where researchers from across Europe gathered to present the latest advancements in early childhood education. Among the contributors was Early Years Senior Lecturer, Glenda Tinney from the ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD).

The BA Adventure Filmmaking course at the ���Ҵ�ý have announced an exciting collaboration with Celtic Deep, a leading marine conservation organisation from Pembrokeshire.
