Students of Surface Pattern and Textiles at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art recently immersed themselves in a series of inspiring symposium events that offered a glimpse into the extraordinary employment and entrepreneurial opportunities that lie ahead of them.

Congratulations to the winners of the Swansea College of Art Summer Shows Awards! Each year, the exhibition presents the culmination of degree work by graduating students. Their final pieces are viewed by staff and professionals on the lookout for standout talent.

One talented alumna from UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art, Marie Wilkinson, is marking a milestone in her burgeoning career as her designs make their debut at Tesco stores nationwide.

Each year UWTSD’s BA/MDes Surface Pattern and Textiles programme team seek out ambitious Live Project partnerships for their students. Currently ranked 3rd in the UK, 1st in Wales, in the large and competitive field of Fashion and Textiles degree courses (Guardian League Tables 2024,) this UWTSD programme based at Swansea College of Art, hails much of its success due to the vibrant Entrepreneurial Learning strategy that underpins the student experience.

Emma Landek , a fourth-year student at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art has an exciting summer ahead as this month (July) she starts a paid internship at Rolls Royce.

Final year student Ellie Jones, who is studying the Integrated Master of Design Surface Pattern and Textiles programme at Swansea College of Art UWTSD, has secured an exciting role with British fashion and homeware retailer Matalan.

Winning the Laura Ashley Lifestyle Award and securing a coveted, paid Rolls Royce internship – it’s been an incredibly exciting and rewarding time for UWTSD Swansea College of Art Surface Pattern and Textiles students.

UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art is once again running its highly popular Art After Dark programme, a series of evening courses designed for individuals looking to develop their creative skills in various disciplines. Running throughout the year, Art After Dark offers accredited Level 4 courses (10 credits), perfect for beginners or those wanting to expand their knowledge in creative fields such as design and applied arts, photography, film, digital media, and fine art.
