What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?

My favourite thing about UWTSD Swansea College of Art is the incredible, talented tutors. I’ve grown so much through lessons and one t one tutorials. The support whether academic, mental health, or business. I’ve had amazing opportunities to grow as an illustrator, from course trips to engaging research and competition experiences. The university offers real chances to develop professionally with bursaries, workshops, and entrepreneurial guidance. Every part of the year is designed to help you grow.

Why did you choose UWTSD?

I chose UWTSD after researching top Illustration courses. So many students shared positive feedback, and my tutor at Coleg y Cymoedd, Paul Lavagna, highly recommended it. That reassurance helped me commit fully and move to Swansea, which is one of my best decisions. I lived just 10 minutes away from campus, giving me easy access to the facilities and allowing me to be punctual and involved. The course’s structure, feedback system, and creative environment were everything I was looking for.

What did you enjoy outside your studies?

Outside my studies, I love painting and sharing my illustration process through video content on social media. I’ve been editing and posting creative videos for years. I also enjoy exercising for both mental and physical well-being, doing makeup, cooking healthy meals, and spending time outdoors, alone or with family and friends. These activities keep me balanced and creatively inspired.

What are you doing now, how did you get to where you are and how has your course helped you in your career?

I hope to work in the creative industry, freelancing, licensing, or joining an agency. I’m already growing my small business ‘Nancy’s Gallery’, where I offer prints, commissions, and acrylic paintings. My dream is to expand the brand, offering unique products and building a strong online presence. Thanks to the university’s business start-up course and bursary, I was able to purchase a printer and equipment to grow my business. Seeing my sheep illustration displayed in front of the university is an amazing milestone. The course and tutors gave me the foundation, encouragement, and confidence to take these steps.

What was your favourite thing about your course?

The amazing tutors, supportive and talented classmates, access to printing and studio facilities, and the wide range of competitions and job opportunities. The environment is creative, welcoming, and full of possibilities.
