The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) has welcomed students from Pembrokeshire College and Coleg Sir Gar to its Swansea Waterfront campus for an engaging and interactive Law, Criminology, and Policing Law, Criminology and Policing taster day.

Students in a brightly coloured immersive room.

The event offered students an immersive university experience through a variety of activities, including a highly popular missing persons escape room held in UWTSD’s cutting-edge immersive technology suite. Students also attended a law session and explored key elements of the criminal justice system, gaining insights into police procedures such as stop and search, as well as the legal framework governing substances.

Praising the event, Coleg Sir Gar lecturer Amanda Morgan said: “The day has provided students with an insight into the law, criminology, and policing courses available at the university to help students make informed decisions about their future. It’s nice for students to have a taster of university life and to meet with the teaching team.â€

Karle Williams, a lecturer from Pembrokeshire College, added: “An engaging, fun and informative day provided for our learners, giving them a taste of university and some of the excellent facilities available.â€

Students also expressed their enthusiasm for the day. Adam Roberts, from Coleg Sir Gar, said: “It was an enjoyable and exciting insight to what university might be for me in the future. I really enjoyed the Law session and how all the debating worked.â€

Mari Lemon, a student from Pembrokeshire College, added: “This university taster day has made me re-think my choices. It’s made me think that university could be an option for me.â€

Bronwen Williams, Academic Director for Law, Criminology, and Policing said: “These days are really important to showcase what the school has to offer in terms of Law, Criminology, and Policing programmes, and also the university as a whole, including its wonderful Swansea Waterfront campus. The day was well-organised by the team, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the session in our new immersive technology suite. Events like this are a great example of the close relationships UWTSD has with local schools and colleges. We look forward to hosting more taster days in the coming months and inviting even more students on campus to experience what we have to offer. I’d like to thank all staff involved, as well as the college staff who attended.â€
