What you will learn
The LLM in Law and Legal Practice combines classroom learning, independent study, and practical application to develop an in-depth understanding of legal practice. With a blend of on-campus sessions at our Swansea Business Campus and online resources, students will have access to an enriched learning experience. During your time on the course, you will study key areas of law, including Private Client (wills and estate planning), Commercial Property (site acquisition and leases), Child Care Law and Practice (safeguarding and family law), Employment Law and Practice (rights and tribunals), and Immigration Law and Practice (UK immigration frameworks). You’ll also develop essential research skills through Research Methodology, leading to an independent Law and Legal Practice Dissertation on a topic of your choice.

A range of summative assessment methods will be employed, i.e. assessment expressed in marks that count towards the calculation of the final mark. . Coursework and practical assessments are used to test knowledge and understanding but they tend to focus more on the development of cognitive, practical and key skills. Such methods are highly appropriate to the nature of the law and legal practice discipline as they facilitate authentic, workplace relevant assessment and practice. Coursework and practicals will be set in a variety of formats. These include: • Essays • Portfolios • Research projects • Presentations.
