The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) is delighted to announce that it as been placed 1st in Wales for Lecturers & Teaching Quality (8th in the UK) and for Student Support (11th in UK) in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards, announced last night.

Storm Darragh, which swept through South Wales last December, left a lasting mark on many communities — including Craig y Nos Country Park, where around 200 mature trees were lost in a single day and many more now being removed due to their unstable condition.

Professor Chris Hopkins, Consultant Clinical Scientist and Clinical Director of the Assistive Technologies Innovation Centre (ATiC) at the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD), has been elected as a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales (FLSW), the nation’s foremost scholarly academy.

Professor Mirjam Plantinga, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD), has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Welsh-Medium Education award by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.

The Digital British Islam project, led by the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) in collaboration with researchers from Coventry University and the University of Edinburgh, recently held an event at The Pierhead building in Cardiff Bay to share key research findings and policy recommendations from its three-year ESRC-funded study.

A group of 25 staff and students from the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) departed for China on 22 June 2025 for a two-week cultural and educational exchange hosted by Beijing Union University (BUU), a long-standing partner of UWTSD’s Confucius Institute.
