What’s the time?
The ‘What’s the time?’ exhibition, celebrated the culmination of three years of work by BA(Hons) Illustration students.
This showcase highlighted the rich diversity of creative practice within the Illustration field, featuring everything from concept art and character design to children’s books, packaging design, editorial, advertising, and graphic novels. Visitors explored a wide range of commercially relevant artwork, created through both traditional and digital media, including 2D, 3D, and moving images.
The exhibition offered an exclusive glimpse into contemporary illustrative practices, with portfolios filled with innovative, experimental, and client-focused work all crafted with individuality and prepared for the world of visual creativity in a wide range of areas such as concept art, editorial, advertising and book Illustration.
Our Work
Born in Ghana and raised in Palermo, Italy, Nancy’s passion for art began at a young age, shaped by the sunshine, nature, and rich culture around her. To her, colour isn’t just something to use, it’s something to feel. A versatile illustrator, she works with bold, unexpected colour combinations to create beautifully balanced illustrations.

Ellie is an illustrator from South Wales. She is passionate about creating vibrant characters and romanticises everyday scenes infused with her unique decorative style. Ellie begins her creative process with hand-drawn sketches, believing that it is this foundational step that adds life to her work. She sells her artwork and products at various artisan markets, conventions, and pop-up events. Thriving in these face-to-face sales environments, cherishing the opportunity to connect with customers. Her interest thrives in work like editorial, advertising and licensing.

Megan is a collage/photomontage artist with a striking visual style, drawing inspiration from Surrealists, Ernst and Magritte. They source images from museum and gallery collections to create her conceptual illustrations, taking images out of their original context to invent her own unique world.

Rhys strives to create art that leaves an impression with his bold, conceptual style and fantastic themes. He has an innate understanding of colour and body language which he utilises to explore character and concept. Inspired by classic storytelling his work has an ethereal and dreamlike quality that drives his storytelling.

Kate is an author-illustrator with a keen interest in history. She creates characters whose stories could not have been told before. Her beautiful textured style fits into her filmic comic structure, and pairs wonderfully with her, sometimes, tragic storytelling.

Jane, aka Bobbie Sheppard, is a children’s book illustrator with a passion for stories that shine a light on those often overlooked. Through her art, she brings warmth, empathy, and a touch of magic to books that help young readers understand and connect with people on the fringes of society. Whether it’s children facing terminal illness or the elderly who feel forgotten. Jane believes that picture books can make a difference, opening hearts and starting conversations that matter.

Sadie is an illustrator based in South Wales, she creates detailed artwork, primarily digitally, with a focus on emulating the textures and qualities of traditional mediums. Symbolism is deeply rooted in her work, drawing inspiration from music industry illustrators and tattoo industry artists, both of which have influenced and informed Sadie’s artistic identity. Sadie’s creativity thrives while listening to music, which fills her working days.

Ellie is a passionate illustrator with a focus on wellbeing and mindfulness, themes that continuously inspire her creative process. Working primarily with Procreate and occasionally Photoshop, she brings her ideas to life through digital illustration. As she completes her Final Year of her BA Illustration Degree, she is eager to explore opportunities that allow her to use illustration as a tool for connection, reflection, and positivity.

Abigail works mainly in watercolor and inks, drawn to the fluidity and expressiveness of these mediums. Her work is inspired by illustrators like Quentin Blake and Arnold Lobel, and she hopes to capture the same energy and whimsical nature in her own illustrations. Children’s picture books are her main area of interest. Nature and the world around her play a huge role in her creative process. Growing up in Montana, she has always been inspired by its wildlife and landscapes, and she loves creating illustrations that feel endearing and bring a smile to people’s faces.

Awel Mari is a Welsh speaking illustrator who enjoys experimenting with unconventional ways to display femininity, Welshness and culture. Her work mainly focuses on feminist values and character design for animation. She concentrates on deconstructing the sexualization of femme presenting characters within media, which predominantly influenced her design and research work.

Devon is a freelance illustrator from the Welsh valleys. Some of their main inspirations for drawings come from the scenic landscapes and imagery their surroundings have to offer. They incorporate representations of both the pastoral and more urban elements into their work and seek to draw upon environmental and architectural subjects. Devon often opts to work on site or with primary research, which they then translate into their narrative works that weave together the use of architecture and environmental themes. They seek to engage their viewers through storytelling, inviting them into their visuals.

Faye is an illustrator who loves to create images featuring vibrant colours and interesting textures, embracing authentic characters and celebrating individuality and uniqueness. Lauren is primarily a digital illustrator who works on Procreate. Obsessed with storylines, she inserts her characters into narratives of her own; from the overthrowing of a cult in a medieval fantasy setting to a botanical Victorian purgatory inhabited by the murdered. Themes of nature and anthropomorphism often appear in her pieces, with Inspiration stemming from the likes of franchises such as Shrek and Tinkerbell. It’s no wonder her fixations revolve around Fairytale and fae.

Libbi Sherman is a digital artist based in Wales with a deep passion for storytelling, weaving rich narratives into every piece she creates. Inspired by films, books, and video games, she strives to craft immersive worlds and compelling characters. With a keen interest in both book cover design and concept art, Libbi is currently focused on character design, exploring how visual storytelling shapes and defines a character’s presence.

Taylor Washington aka ‘Woshyn10’ works across multiple platforms and media and specializes in observational drawing, including portraits of human and animal models. He also produces stylised work of the fantasy genre, including character designs and environmental art. Keeley, aka Into Blossom, works in tactile and process driven traditional media. Drawing influence from nature, landscapes, and literature, her work explores ideas of place, connection, and time, with a focus on investigating the relationships people have to their surroundings and how memory affects how they relate to it. She produces delicately detailed work no matter the medium, whether it’s printmaking, painting, or her recent foray into the world of paper miniatures, her art is carefully crafted.

Alice Willow is a Welsh illustrator whose work explores themes of feminism and identity. Drawing inspiration from the world of Welsh folklore and the imagery found in literature, her illustrations evoke deep emotional connections that invite viewers to reflect upon the complexity of human experience through the lens of mythology and gender. Using traditional media, including oil pastel and charcoal, her techniques create textured and atmospheric pieces that honour the subjects she illustrates.
