Care Direct Technology

Project outline

Care Direct Technology Ltd was developing an intelligent care system that integrates a smart home hub, IoT sensors, video, and wearable technologies into a single digital platform. Designed for the domiciliary care and assisted living sectors, the system aims to deliver more personalised, effective, and responsive care by improving communication between providers and recipients.

ATiC supported the development of the platform’s app interface, focusing on improving usability and accessibility for care providers. Working closely with Mirus, a care organisation, the team explored the real-world challenges faced by care staff and identified opportunities to enhance the system’s functionality.

  • Evaluated the existing system by mapping user journeys for both carers and care recipients.
  • Conducted user interviews and co-design workshops to identify usability challenges and inform design improvements.
  • Supported the development and testing of IoT-enabled prototypes in residential care settings to ensure real-world applicability.

Impact:

This collaboration helped Care Direct Technology refine its platform to better meet the needs of care providers—reducing barriers to adoption and improving the quality of care delivery.
