The taster day was organised by UWTSD’s Senior Lecturer Film and Digital Media, Dr Brett Aggersberg, which provided students with a first-hand experience of the University’s diverse creative courses and cutting-edge facilities. Students from Level 3 programmes in Performing Arts, Music Production, Creative Media and Art & Design explored a range of workshops tailored to their interests.

Students were given the opportunity to engage in morning and afternoon workshops across disciplines such as Automotive Design, Set Design, Adventure Filmmaking, Acting, and Musical Performance. They were also introduced to UWTSD’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Immersive Room equipped with advanced digital backdrop technology and the Greenscreen studio at Yr Egin. Students also had the opportunity to go on a campus tour, where they visited historic buildings on campus frequently used as film sets, and the set design workshop spaces where live theatre set commissions were in progress.

Heidi Baker from Pembrokeshire College said:

“The visit to Yr Egin last week, supported by organised travel costs, was a resounding success for both staff and learners. Art & Design students expressed their gratitude as they left the coach, sharing how much they had enjoyed the day.â€

Carys Ifan, Director of yr Egin said:

“Yr Egin is all about developing talent and pathways to industry, it was great to welcome Pembrokeshire College once again and it was excellent to see the students enthusiasm and creativity as they explored and engaged with the high-quality facilities that are available to them here in Carmarthen. It was fantastic to introduce the students to the Creative West Wales network and highlight the numerous opportunities and creative companies in the region.â€

UWTSD’s Senior Lecturer Film and Digital Media, Dr Brett Aggersberg added:

“Our taster day with Pembrokeshire college was a huge success thanks to the support of academic staff from Design and Performing Industries at the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½, and the students and staff from Pembrokeshire college due to their fantastic engagement. The day was filled with campus based activities showcasing our top creative courses including Acting, Set Design and Production, Perfformio, Music Technology, Adventure Filmmaking, Film and TV, Automotive Design, Musical Theatre and Vocal Performance. We are committed to helping students find their path in life and supporting their career development.

“A taster day such as this helps students to experience a subject as if they were already at the University. This provides them with a clear insight into if it is the subject and University for them. We were so pleased to receive positive feedback on the day, and have since meet a number of the students for interviews to the courses on offer. We wish them all well with their future endeavours.â€
