As global challenges continue to highlight the need for sustainable peace and social justice, this innovative programme provides students with the critical knowledge and skills to drive positive change.

Housed within the Institute of Education and Humanities and the Global Humanity for Peace (GHfP) Institute, the MA Peace Studies takes a unique approach by focusing on the holistic and positive dimensions of peace. Unlike traditional programmes that primarily address conflict resolution, this course delves into the qualities of peacefulness, social justice, well-being, good governance, and ecological integrity.

鈥淭he MA Peace Studies programme offers a fresh and necessary perspective on what it means to cultivate peace in today鈥檚 world,鈥 said GHfP Institute Director, Prof. Scherto Gill. 鈥淣ow more than ever, we need individuals who can envision and enact transformative pathways to peace.鈥

With an interdisciplinary approach, the programme encourages students to explore the principles and values underpinning positive peace while critically examining policies, institutional practices, and structural conditions that contribute to peace and social justice.

UWTSD is also pleased to offer substantial financial support for students interested in joining the programme. With up to 50% matching funds available through private sponsorship for students from non-OECD countries, the university is committed to making peace education accessible to aspiring scholars and practitioners.

鈥淭his is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about making a difference in the world,鈥 said Dr Ryan Joseph O鈥橞yrne, Lecturer in Peace Studies at the GHfP Institute and UWTSD鈥檚 Institute for Education and Humanities. 鈥淲hether you are a researcher, practitioner, leader, or policymaker, the MA Peace Studies programme provides the foundation to engage with peacebuilding in meaningful and impactful ways.鈥

The programme forms part of the Global Humanity for Peace (GHfP) Institute鈥檚 wider mission, sanctioned by UNESCO, to advance peace, well-being, and social justice through education, research, and community engagement.

Applications are now open, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply soon to take advantage of available funding opportunities.
