What you will learn

At UWTSD, we believe in an engaging and practical approach to learning. Our teaching philosophy focuses on developing your confidence and transferable skills through real-world application, interactive workshops, and collaborative learning. We aim to prepare you for a successful career in Health and Social Care by fostering both personal and professional growth.

Classes are held 2 days per week.

During the year, you will cover key areas such as reflective learning, personal development, communication, and professional practice. The course emphasises critical skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and effective communication. You’ll also explore leadership, conflict management, and ethics in the workplace, equipping you with the practical tools needed to thrive in Health and Social Care.

  • This programme is available to Home applicants.

    Applications to our full-time undergraduate courses must be made directly to the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ using our online application form.

    Entry onto the programme is by individual merit. Normally students under the age of 21 will have at least 1 A Level or BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent. Mature Candidates – experience can often be taken into consideration in lieu of formal qualifications. Grades are important; however, our offers are not solely based on academic results.

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.  &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.  &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.  &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.   &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study.

  • There are a variety of assessments such as presentations, projects, reports and blogs. There are no examinations.

  • There will be no mandatory additional costs to study beyond the payment of tuition. Students should be prepared to incur the basic costs associated with studying such as transport and any on-campus purchases including printing, coffees, snacks or other sundry items.

    Many students also choose to invest in study support tools such as laptops, tablets, and/or software over the course of their studies. Any activities related to study or student life which bear a cost beyond tuition will be optional, and the expense shall be clearly communicated to students at the time of registration.

  • This programme is specifically focused on employability, ensuring that students are able to use workplace experiences to inform their studies throughout each module.

    Explicit outcomes include the creation of digital portfolios, through which students can demonstrate their understanding of key skills, theories and methodologies for use at interview and to secure career progression.
