Our 1-year Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in Events and International Festivals Management combines academic learning with practical experience to provide a solid foundation in the events industry. What you will learn

This one-year CertHE program introduces you to the essential concepts and skills in events and festivals management, giving you an understanding of this dynamic industry and its role in driving local and global economic and cultural growth.

You’ll gain an understanding of the event industry’s structure and its socio-economic impacts, with a focus on hospitality, guest services, and tourism’s role in enhancing event experiences. You will also build core skills in event operations, marketing, and project management and learn about delivering high-quality service within the events industry.


Throughout the year, you’ll also have the chance to connect with industry professionals and attend virtual sessions with global events leaders, gaining insights into current trends and practices. You may also have opportunities to earn introductory qualifications, such as ABTA and Travel Trade certificates, for an additional fee.

This CertHE offers a solid introduction to the field of events and international festivals, ideal for those looking to begin a career in event management or continue their studies further.

    Once you have successfully completed your CertHE studies, you will be eligible to progress for the remaining two years of the bachelor’s degree. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    These are ideal routes if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied this subject, or if you did not achieve the grades you need for a place on this degree. â¶Ä¯&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    English language requirements  

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    Visa and funding requirements  

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship. â¶Ä¯&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • The programme will be assessed through a structured mix of practical assessments, events, placements, case studies, audits, training exercises, management reports, presentations, essays, event reviews, DVD/videos, vlogs/ blogs, feasibility studies, projects, bid pitches and the opportunity to plan, organise and assess event tours and experiences.

    Assessments will wherever possible be designed to develop professional skills as well as developing critical thinking, leadership, events management, guest service and teamwork in preparation for careers in the events . There will be NO examinations on this course.

  • Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.  

    If you choose to study your course either fully or partially through the medium of Welsh, you may be eligible to apply for scholarships and bursaries to support you with your studies.

    Opportunities to Learn Welsh 

    We also provide a variety of opportunities to learn and develop your Welsh language skills. â¶Ä¯&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • Our students have access to a diverse range of equipment and resources, which in most cases are sufficient to complete their programme of study. We provide the basic materials necessary for students to undertake their modules.

    However, hospitality, leisure and tourism students will likely incur some additional costs associated with field trips. Year to year these costs vary from £25 at level 4, to £500 at level 5 and up to £1,000 at level 6 however these are all subsidised.

  • Career development bursaries of up to £1,000 are available for students to support placements, internships and events volunteering. Students may also be eligible to apply for the Discover Project to support International Mobility to support short International Placement Experiences
