Accelerate partners, the Assistive Technologies Innovation Centre (ATiC) at the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ and Swansea University’s Healthcare Technology Centre (HTC) are collaborating with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) to develop a new interactive digital display system for use on wards throughout four of the health board’s hospitals.

A tenant of the ILS business incubator space, Innoture Ltd have collaborated with Swansea University over the past 6 years to develop an idea into a product on the market.

ATiC worked with Pembrokeshire-based Gwylan UK to evaluate and develop Sleeping Lions, a product which aims to help children manage their mental and physical health. This is achieved by performing exercises which help them increase their mindfulness, reduce their breathing rate, connect to their bodies, and calm themselves down.

The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½â€™s (UWTSD) Assistive Technologies Innovation Centre (ATiC) recently hosted a one-day workshop for Year 12 and 13 pupils in partnership with the Mullany Fund.

The Orthopaedics Interactive Diagnosis project saw a collaboration between ATiC and Cardiff-based Foot and Ankle UK Ltd, Spire Cardiff Hospital, where Mr Anthony Perera is Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon.

Accelerate is supporting the delivery of this project through the provision of academic expertise and state-of-the-art facilities at ATiC.

A collaboration between national charity Cerebra and three research and innovation centres at the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) has led to the development of bespoke walking aids for a nine-year-old boy with cerebral palsy.

Life Sciences Hub Wales has published an exciting Impact Report to celebrate the success of the Accelerate programme. This highlights how Accelerate has supported start-ups and SMEs in accelerating the development and adoption of new technology, products and services in health and social care systems across Wales.

The Accelerate programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Welsh Funding Office (WEFO), Welsh Government’s Health and Social Services group, universities, Life Science Hub Wales, and the health boards; the ultimate aim of Accelerate is to create lasting economic value for Wales.
