Project outline

Renowned architectural firm Stride Treglown partnered with ATiC and the Psychological Evaluation and Research Consultancy Hub (PERCH) at UWTSD to explore how workplace environments affect health, wellbeing, and performance—particularly in a post-COVID-19 context.

The WellSPACE project used UWTSD’s SA1 Waterfront academic quarter as a testbed to evaluate new academic workspace designs. The goal was to develop innovative architectural strategies for “knowledge work” that could be applied across higher education and professional service sectors.

վ’s&Բ;DzԳٰܳپDz:

ATiC and PERCH worked closely with Stride Treglown to understand the lived experiences of academic staff and translate those insights into design strategies that promote wellbeing and productivity.

վ’s&Բ;پ:

  • Captured user experience data through co-creation workshops and app-based ecological momentary assessment tools.
  • Applied VR simulations and real-time feedback to evaluate user responses to proposed design concepts.

Impact:

This collaboration laid the groundwork for healthier, more responsive work environments—offering long-term benefits for employees, employers, and the wider healthcare system through improved wellbeing and reduced demand on services.
