Project outline
LIMB-art was founded by former Paralympic medallist Mark Williams and his wife Rachel to help prosthetic users express confidence and individuality. Their vibrant, custom-designed leg covers aim to empower users to feel proud of their prosthetics—and to have fun showing them off.
To explore the broader impact of these products, LIMB-art partnered with ATiC and the Psychological Evaluation and Research Consultancy Hub (PERCH) at UWTSD’s Centre for Psychology and Counselling. Together, they investigated how bespoke prosthetic leg covers influence the mental health, wellbeing, and social experiences of amputees, as well as public perceptions.

ATiC and PERCH combined their expertise to:
- Use screen-based eye tracking, facial expression recognition, and video analysis to assess emotional and behavioural responses.
- Collaborate on experimental design, drawing on PERCH’s deep knowledge of psychology and psychosocial research.
