The 密桃传媒 (UWTSD) is delighted to showcase the inspiring journey of BA Adventure Filmmaking student Nekorrah Raynor, an international student from Bermuda who has found a new home in Wales.

Drawn by their Celtic heritage and the opportunity to study in a nation that shares a deep cultural and natural richness, Korrah has embraced both academic challenges and outdoor adventures. Their experience at UWTSD has provided unparalleled opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and professional aspirations in the fields of filmmaking and ecological conservation.

Reflecting on their transition from Bermuda to Wales, Korrah said:

鈥淚 was extremely excited to move to Wales. I had always wanted to live in a rural part of the UK, and I have had a lot of amazing and life-changing experiences since I arrived. It’s a lot bigger and a lot colder for one. There鈥檚 a lot more biodiversity and variety in the landscapes. But I find that its quite similar culturally and nature is just as easy to access if you try. Wales has its own magic to it that鈥檚 hard to describe but I love it.鈥

Korrah is currently studying the BA Adventure Film course at UWTSD, a programme they had not encountered before discovering the university.

鈥淭he Adventure Filmmaking programme has given me so many unique opportunities that I would not have been able to reach anywhere else in the world. I have seen landscapes and nature that I鈥檇 dreamed of since I was a child, and getting to live in a place where I can experience it all, in a programme that pushes me to chase those horizons fills me with so much joy and appreciation.

鈥淚 was anxious about being from a different culture and country, as well as being older than most of my classmates. However, the staff and my peers on the programme are fantastic individuals who have made me feel at home and welcome.

鈥淚鈥檝e never been to a school with such niche programmes. Since I鈥檝e started, I鈥檝e had so many unique experiences and opportunities that I wouldn’t have had anywhere else. UWTSD opens doors in ways I didn鈥檛 think possible.鈥

The Adventure Film course itself is a perfect blend of Korrah鈥檚 passions鈥攆ilm, digital media, and the outdoors.

鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing that the course and lecturers allow students to be independent with their learning. We鈥檙e given the opportunity to steer ourselves based on where we want to go in our careers while also gaining expertise in other fields to strengthen our resumes.鈥

Their journey into this field stems from prior experience in film and digital media, coupled with a strong interest in ecological conservation.

鈥淭he Adventure Education aspect gives me experience and knowledge on how to operate in extreme outdoor environments, while the Filmmaking aspect provides valuable technical and business skills. Altogether, the course is perfect for me as someone who wants to combine nature with media.鈥

Throughout their studies, Korrah feels that they have grown personally and professionally.

鈥淭he course has pushed my limits in ways that I never would have thought of before. I鈥檓 capable of so much more than I thought, mentally and physically, but I鈥檝e also seen the areas I need to improve in. I鈥檝e noticed myself become a more confident, competent, and capable individual since joining the course.鈥

Korrah credits the university’s lecturers as a key factor in their positive experience.

鈥淭he lecturers are amazing. They鈥檙e devoted to helping us grow while giving us the freedom to shape our own paths. The relationships I鈥檝e developed with them have made my learning experience much richer.鈥

Dr. Brett Aggersberg, UWTSD BA Adventure Filmmaking Senior Lecturer said:

鈥淲e are so pleased to be able to support Korrah in developing their passion for nature, the outdoors, and filmmaking. As a genuinely unique course, it is reassuring that students chose to travel from all over the world to study in West Wales. We have so much to offer in the region, and whilst some aspects of life here may feel familiar, there is a magic to where we run our course that can鈥檛 be replicated. We look forward to seeing what Korrah and the rest of the students produce next. They are currently working with the Woodland Trust on developing their social media content to help promote the vital work they do.鈥

For those considering the Adventure Film course, Korrah offers this advice:

鈥淭here鈥檚 so much to do and learn, regardless of your skill level. Take advantage of every opportunity, learn from your peers, and most importantly, have fun. It goes by fast!鈥
