The 21-year-old graduate, who studied on the Carmarthen campus, was celebrated not only for her academic and creative achievements but also for the collaborative spirit and passion she brought to every aspect of her studies.

Reflecting on her time at UWTSD, Chloe said:

“I was never into acting and theatre as a kid, but I developed a love for it as I grew up by watching loads of movies and seeing as much theatre as I could. When I came across the course at Carmarthen, it just felt right and it was close to home but still gave me the independence I wanted.”

Her journey through the BA (Hons) Acting degree has been marked by personal growth, exciting collaborations, and opportunities she says she never expected.

“I approached everything with an open mindset, and through that, I discovered what I really loved,” she explained. “From second-year collaboration week, where we created a performance from scratch, to becoming a theatre company in third year alongside the set design course - those moments were unforgettable. You connect with so many people and really get to be creative.”

One highlight in particular stood out for Chloe:

“Through the course, I got the chance to perform at the National Botanic Garden of Wales in an outdoor theatre project with Walk the Plank. It was an amazing experience, something I never imagined I’d be doing. It taught me so much about performance in different spaces and how versatile you can be.”

Lynne Seymour, Academic Director for Design and Performing industries, praised Chloe’s commitment, generosity, and growth throughout her studies:

“Chloe has been a joy to teach. Her determination, ability to collaborate, and her curiosity as a creative have all shone throughout the course. She approaches every challenge with thoughtfulness and a genuine desire to learn. Chloe is an artist who listens, reflects and leads by example, and we are so proud to see her recognised with this award.”

Despite the accolades, Chloe is quick to point out the challenges she faced along the way.

“Like many students, I had my share of challenges - from mental health to just adjusting to a new place and balancing it all. But the support from my friends and the incredible tutors made such a difference. They were always there to offer advice or just listen, and I’ll never forget that.”

The award recognises Chloe’s outstanding contribution to the course and her ability to collaborate, lead and support others – qualities she’s taken with her as she steps into the creative industries.

“This course helped me to understand what sort of creative I want to be and more than that, it helped me grow into the kind of person I want to be. I’ve become more confident, resilient, compassionate and kind.”

As for what’s next? Chloe is keeping her options open, taking time to explore, reflect and stay creative.

“Right now, I’m working on my CV, networking, and keeping myself creative by writing which I love. I’m looking for opportunities and ready to take them as they come.”

The Ҵý congratulates Chloe on this well-deserved recognition and wishes her every success in what promises to be a bright and exciting future.
