Dr Charles Okeyia, a telecommunications manager and now a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) graduate from the ���Ҵ�ý’s London campus, celebrated his academic achievement today, marking a significant milestone in his mission to bridge industry expertise with applied academic research. 

With a professional background in telecom asset management and a passion for strategic problem-solving, Charles chose UWTSD’s practice-focused DBA programme to deepen his impact in both business leadership and academic scholarship.

Dr Okeyia brings years of experience in telecommunications asset management and operations, and it was his desire to connect research with real-world practice that led him to UWTSD. “The structure of the DBA programme, which blends applied research with theoretical frameworks tailored to workplace challenges, aligned perfectly with my professional goals,” he said.

When asked about his motivation for pursuing the course, Dr Okeyia emphasised his ambition to gain enhanced research skills, deepen his critical thinking, and develop a more strategic approach to management and leadership. “This journey has helped me build the knowledge and confidence to engage in meaningful scholarly collaboration and to lead with purpose,” he added.

A particular highlight of the course for Dr Okeyia was the ability to apply advanced academic theories to workplace-based projects, helping to solve organisational problems. His specialist research focused on asset maintenance management; an area he believes is critical to operational efficiency in the telecom sector. “Developing a robust methodology and research design to investigate this area was both challenging and rewarding,” he said.

One of the toughest challenges during his studies was accessing research participants and ensuring data quality during the collection phase. “It required careful planning, persistence, and adaptability, but overcoming it taught me a great deal about research ethics and practical constraints,” he said.

He has high praise for the DBA programme and recommends it to professionals seeking to elevate their practice through research. “It’s not just about theory; it’s about transforming how we lead and solve problems in the workplace.”

Professionally and personally, the course has already made a significant impact. “The skills I’ve gained, strategic thinking, leadership, and problem-solving are tools I use daily,” he said. Looking ahead, Charles plans to continue contributing to academic knowledge and professional practice by publishing research articles that explore asset maintenance management in greater depth.
