The ���Ҵ�ý (UWTSD) is proud to announce that two of its standout netball players have been selected to represent the Welsh Universities Netball Team, following highly competitive trials involving students from across Wales.

Lauren Evans, a Sports & Exercise Therapy student and player for Dulais Netball Club, and Cassy Rumbelow, a Policing student and Llanelli Sosbans player due to graduate next month, have both earned their places in the squad.

They’ll be joined by our Head of Netball, Hannah Poole, who continues in her role as Welsh Universities Team Manager.

Hannah said: 

“We have a very strong squad this year, and it’s brilliant to see two local players making it through. Lauren and Cassy had fantastic trials, and I can’t wait to see what they achieve at this level. It’s really encouraging for other students to see players from UWTSD taking up such amazing opportunities.”

Lee Tregoning Head of the UWTSD Academy of Sport added:

“ We are extremely proud of Lauren and Cassy who have been key this year in the success that the UWTSD Netball has achieved and to see them rewarded individually in this way is well deserved. We are again of course delighted for Hannah to continue in her role with Welsh Universities. To have a UWTSD presence in both the playing and management is fantastic for us as an institution.”

The Welsh Universities Netball Team will begin training and play a series of friendly matches against national league teams in the lead-up to their first international fixture. They’re set to take on England Universities on Wednesday, 2nd July in Cardiff.
