What you will learn

Our teaching philosophy centres around providing a balance of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. We aim to equip students with a broad understanding of project management in engineering, emphasising leadership, sustainability, and innovation. Through interactive learning, industry-focused case studies, and project-based assessments, you will develop the essential skills required to succeed in today’s fast-evolving engineering sector.

Throughout the year, you will develop essential skills in project management, covering core areas such as procurement and supply chain management, business analytics, and financial management for projects. You’ll learn how to apply Lean Six Sigma methods to improve efficiency and sustainability in operations. The course culminates in the Master’s Project, where you’ll tackle a real-world engineering challenge, integrating your learning to demonstrate leadership and the ability to manage complex engineering projects from start to finish.

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    Visa and funding requirements  

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship. â¶Ä¯&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • Assessment on the master’s programme comprises a mixture of written assessments, examinations and presentations. A typical assessment may ask you to investigate a problem and make suggestions for improvement using tools and techniques you learned about in a particular module or across the programme.

  • Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.  

    If you choose to study your course either fully or partially through the medium of Welsh, you may be eligible to apply for scholarships and bursaries to support you with your studies.

  • It is possible to complete this programme of study without any additional costs.

    Students may wish to purchase materials for modules, such as major project but this is not a requirement and will have no bearing on the final grade.

  • This programme provides graduates with a wide range of professional skills and competencies that are transferable within business sectors and from sector to sector. Oral and written skills are developed enabling individuals to grow in confidence through the programme of study.

    Typical career opportunities include shift manager, production supervisor, engineering manager, quality manager, planning and scheduling manager, operations manager/director. All our graduates who have studied part-time have received promotion while studying, or after completing their studies, and attributed this to their qualification. Younger graduates have found their employment prospects were enhanced and they were able to gain employment as a line engineer, quality engineer and supply chain specialist.  A number of major companies have now recognised this course as a key requisite for promotion or to hold a particular role.
