Motorcycle Engineering (Full-time) (MSc)
The Motorcycle Engineering MSc at UWTSD Swansea is a dynamic programme designed for those who are passionate about the design and development of motorcycles. Since its start in 2003, this course has evolved to reflect the growing demand in the motorcycle industry, covering both the exciting motorcycle racing world and the mainstream road riding sector.
This master’s degree offers students the chance to gain hands-on and theoretical knowledge essential for creating high-performance motorcycles and other advanced models. Combining a solid academic foundation with industry-focused practical experience, the course is a blend of practical and theoretical components tailored to fit different career paths in motorcycle engineering. Students will engage in a wide array of motorcycle engineering projects and modules that cover core areas such as motorcycle dynamics, engineering and manufacturing training, and the finer points of motorcycle design.
In addition to the formal classes, students work on motorcycle-specific assignments and projects, gaining direct, valuable experience and deeper insight into the complexities of this field. Each student also has the flexibility to focus on areas of personal interest, whether that’s competitive motorcycle racing design or cutting-edge road-riding technologies. This balance of guided study and personalised exploration ensures graduates are well-equipped to succeed in a career in motorcycle engineering, with skills valued by employers in various sectors of the industry.
By the end of this programme, students will have developed both a technical and creative understanding of motorcycle engineering, ready to contribute to the industry with a clear grasp of essential skills. Whether aiming to innovate in performance design or focusing on road-ready motorcycles, students graduate with a solid grounding in the expertise in motorcycle engineering required to thrive in this fast-paced industry.
