Outdoor Education (Part-time) (MA)

Carmarthen
3 Years Part-time

The MA in Outdoor Education is designed for those passionate about outdoor learning and eager to expand their professional skills and understanding. Whether you are an experienced outdoor professional or a recent graduate, this course helps you deepen your knowledge, skills, and expertise in outdoor education. It combines practical experiences with a focus on the theory and practice of outdoor education, giving you the tools to develop and refine your approach to teaching and learning in natural settings.

What sets this programme apart is its focus on a sociocultural approach, which explores how outdoor learning connects with people, places, and society. By examining key themes such as the role of outdoor places in education and their impact on health and well-being in nature, you will gain a broader perspective on how outdoor experiences shape individuals and communities.

This course also looks at the influence of digital technology in outdoor learning, exploring how modern tools can complement or challenge traditional outdoor practices. You will consider these issues within the context of national and international policies, helping you understand how different countries approach outdoor learning. Through this, you will critically assess how outdoor education responds to and reflects social changes, equipping you to adapt your practices to contemporary challenges.

As part of the programme, you will engage with real-world issues, blending practical learning with academic study. This unique structure ensures you not only gain theoretical insight but also practical strategies to apply in your own work. Whether you are interested in developing your career, researching new approaches, or leading initiatives in outdoor learning, the MA in Outdoor Education will prepare you for the next step in your journey.

This course offers a chance to explore the transformative potential of outdoor education, shaping the way people learn, connect, and grow in the natural world.
