Why choose this course?
What you will learn
This course blends theory, policy, and practice in primary education, drawing on pedagogy, psychology, and sociology. We emphasise contemporary issues and enable students to engage in small-scale research, fostering a deep understanding of the link between theory and practice.
The programme will provide you with the understanding and skills that are relevant for working with children of a primary school age, considering:
- Where and how do children learn?
- What are the barriers to learning that children experience and how may they be overcome?
- What are the key factors that have an impact on primary education in Wales today?
- How do adults work most effectively with children in an educational setting?
- What are the benefits of a bilingual education?
- What are the most important skills that learners need for the future?
In your first year, you will explore the foundations of education through a diverse range of modules exploring educational development, learning theory and practice and children’s rights.
