Students present work in numerous ways to enable them to develop their team skills, as well as independent learning skills.
Assessments include problem learning-based scenarios, group presentations, academic poster presentations, portfolios, written assignments and individual seminar presentations.

Students are responsible for meeting the cost of essential textbooks, printing and copying and stationery and of producing such essays, assignments and dissertations as are required to fulfil the academic requirements for each programme of study.
Students are required to apply for, and obtain, a UWTSD Enhanced Disclosure Barring Check (DBS). The fee for this is dependent on the DBS and is approximately £44.
*A DBS is only needed at Level 6 if students choose to carry out their independent project research with children and young people.
Students are required to gain the equivalent of 80 hours practical experience in places such as schools, in voluntary settings or with other agencies such as health or social care, or outdoor learning settings. This will incur travelling costs and refreshment costs.
Mandatory study experiences and enhancement activities are organised for students. The cost of travelling and the study on offer is covered by the Discipline. However, students would need to supply their own refreshments, and appropriate outdoor clothing for some visits.

Our degree is relevant for those graduates who wish to train to become teachers through the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) route as the degree gives the background and the depth of understanding regarding issues that are relevant for primary school children. Other graduates have continued their studies with a variety of master’s programmes.
