Our Facilities

Our Film, Media and Animation facilities are based on our Swansea and Carmarthen campuses and offer an array of specialist workshops and equipment for students.

Our Carmarthen Adventure Filmmaking and Digital Media Facilities  

In Carmarthen, our film and media courses immerse students in the contemporary creative industries. By integrating established industry techniques with emerging technologies, students develop a broad range of academic and production skills.

Students have access to our state-of-the-art Samsung immersive screening room, as well an Apple Mac Suite with large 4K monitors and Adobe Creative Cloud software. There are also studio spaces such as Y Llwyfan, a Green Screen Room, Post-production Edit Suite, and screening facilities.

Our Swansea Film & TV Facilities    

As a BA Film & TV student, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art resources, with location partners in and around Swansea you’ll frequently shoot on location.

Our kit includes a RED Cinema Camera (RED ONE), a Netflix-grade Camera (C70), various cine cameras from Blackmagic and Sony, DSLRs, an array of lenses from vintage to Hollywood-grade anamorphic, professional sound recording equipment, green screen setup, stage and screen lighting, motion equipment, and TV/live streaming setups.

Our Swansea Animation & VFX and Creative Games Design Facilities  

Our Creative Games Design programmes offer dedicated spaces with high-spec PC systems and industry-standard software like Unreal Engine 5, Substance Painter, Autodesk Maya, and ZBrush. Here, students delve into 3D environment design, visual scripting with Unreal Engine, character modelling, and texture creation, all while building personal portfolios. 

Animation & VFX students in Swansea work with industry-leading software such as NUKE, Houdini 3D, MAYA, Adobe After Effects, and Substance Paint. They learn to transition from physical to digital lighting in Maya, creating 3D scenes using HDRI photogrammetry imaging. The programme also includes access to green screen facilities, DSLR cinema cameras, and sound equipment for field recording, ensuring comprehensive training in visual effects.
