On World Environment Day, we are invited to reflect not only on the beauty of the natural world, but on our responsibility to nurture it. At the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½, Glenda Tinney, a lecturer from the BA (Hons) Early Years Education and Care programme, shares how the course has embedded environmental awareness at its heart. Through a blend of classroom learning, outdoor exploration, and hands-on conservation, students are discovering the profound connection between early years education and sustainability. In this thought piece, Glenda reflects on how small acts of noticing, caring, and being curious about the world can shape future generations to become informed, ethical citizens rooted in a deep sense of place and responsibility.

A groundbreaking new project from the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) is redefining how psychological and emotional support is delivered to individuals living with limb loss. The Walking in Our Shoes project, launched by UWTSD’s Centre for Psychology and Counselling in collaboration with Limbless Association, a leading UK charity supporting amputees for over 40 years and funded by The VTCT Foundation, combines the power of lived experience with cutting-edge digital innovation to co-create meaningful psychosocial resources.

Tyra Oseng-Rees recently returned to UWTSD for an engaging guest lecture with students from our Civil Engineering & Architecture and Environment, Energy and Sustainability programmes. A pioneer in upcycling glass waste into architectural marvels, Tyra shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey and passion for sustainable design, inspiring the next generation of professionals to embrace sustainability in their work.

The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ Swansea College of Art’s Sustainable Makers Meet Exhibition is currently showcasing its work in the foyer of the Alex Building, until May 2nd. This collective of artists, activists, educators, researchers, students, makers, and curators have come together to develop initiatives and events centered around sustainable textile practices.
