The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) Academy of Sport celebrated a year of outstanding sporting success at its 2024/25 Annual Awards Night, held at the Cothi Suite in the Halliwell Conference Centre on the Carmarthen campus. The event marked the University’s third season back in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions and paid tribute to the remarkable achievements of student athletes, teams, and support staff who have made this a standout year for UWTSD sport.

UWTSD postgraduate student is applying his expertise in sports nutrition to help para-triathlete prepare for an intense endurance challenge - cycling the length of Wales on a hand bike in just three days. This new challenge comes after a longstanding collaboration between the para-triathlete, Welsh Triathlon and UWTSD, where the university has supported his mission to compete at the World Triathlon Para Series.

A mid-century-inspired chair designed by ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) student Lewis Parry has captured attention not only for its elegant craftsmanship but also for the remarkable story behind its creation, culminating in a presentation to Westminster Abbey itself.

Professor Gary R. Bunt of the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) presented key findings from the Digital British Islam research project at a special event held at the Scottish Parliament.

Firmly rooted in the locality of this year’s Eisteddfod, as they live and have been educated in the area, Tomos and Owain Sparnon feel very grateful for the opportunities they had through the Urdd and The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½'s Swansea College of Art.. Both are currently using those experiences to contribute back to the creative community that nurtured them. From adjudicating and curating to raising money and supporting young artists, they are actively contributing to a festival which has been a milestone in their personal and professional development.

From 17 May to 8 June, our graduating students from our courses BA Hons Photography in the Arts and BA Hons Documentary Photography and Visual Activism will be exhibiting their completed works. View a sample of their portfolios here.

A vibrant new mural by UWTSD Swansea College of Art BA Illustration student Nancy Akuffobea has been unveiled in the heart of the city centre outside the University’s Dynevor Building, bringing bold colour and cultural richness to public space and marking a major milestone in a deeply personal and powerful creative journey.
