Debby Mercer, from Lampeter, is among a growing number of students across the UK who have started their own business.

Recent figures released by the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey (HE-BCI) show that 4,908 student start-ups were created at universities across the UK in 2022-23 which is 3.5% higher than the previous years. The figures apply only to those businesses who received direct support from the University and Debby received such support by staff at UWTSD’s Institute for Sustainable Practice, Innovation, Research & Enterprise (INSPIRE).

The ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD) is proud to celebrate the success of one of its distinguished Leisure Management alumni, Craig Jarrett, who has recently been appointed Vice President of Operations at Sodexo, overseeing airport lounges across North America.

Lucy Rose Davies, a recent graduate of BA Adventure Filmmaking at ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD), is already carving out a niche for herself by blending her love for extreme sports with her creative eye.

James Dillon, a Physical Education student at the ÃÜÌÒ´«Ã½ (UWTSD), has recently returned from an impactful study abroad experience at Southern Utah University (SUU) in Cedar City, Utah. Funded by the Taith programme, James spent a semester fully immersed in both academic and cultural life at SUU, gaining valuable insights into his field of study and personal growth.

Dr Mikel Gartziarena from the University of the Basque Country will be the 2024 Etxepare Alan R. King Professor in Residence at the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies.
